Rafaella Malca Vivanco
Simon Fraser University Psychology
Research assistant
Hello! My name is Rafaella and I am currently completing my major in Psychology along with a minor in Biological Sciences at Simon Fraser University. My fascination with the human brain has long influenced my academic and career aspirations, but it was not until I witnessed firsthand how aging affects cognitive functions and impacts families that I became deeply committed to studying memory and aging.Through my coursework in neuroscience, I have developed a keen interest in understanding the factors that contribute to dementia and cognitive decline, with a particular focus on Alzheimer’s disease. I am passionate about reading and conducting research that explores both the biological mechanisms and impacts of neurodegenerative diseases on patients and caregivers, with the goal of contributing to improved care and prevention strategies.
In my free time, I love to indulge in some outdoors time exploring new trails and hikes, recently picked up gardening, and love spending time at the beach with loved ones.
Fun fact: I am addicted to light iced capps.
