Hi! My name is Akshaya, I am currently pursuing my undergraduate joint major degree in Psychology and Criminology. I am interested in learning about human behaviour and behavioural changes in mental disorders. I used to volunteer at Surrey Memorial’s N53 unit, which specializes in short-term Dementia and Alzheimer’s treatment. This gave me the opportunity to observe the reality of the cognitive disorders and the lives of the people living with it, and how they affect the families. I enjoy working at TDC Lab because it gives me the opportunity to explore the dynamic of caregiver relationships and how this changes among different cultures. My goal is to pursue a career as either a mental health counsellor or a social worker in a hospital setting.

Outside of the lab, I volunteer as a Teaching Assistant at my dance school. I also enjoy reading, cooking, crocheting, and dancing.
